I have suffered from mental health issues myself throughout my entire life. I spent part of my life being told I was just nothing more than a “badly behaved child” and just needed discipline. One day this all changed and I was treated differently. I was diagnosed with ADHD and while it wasn’t massively surprising or severe, the way people talked to me and handled it felt a little off. I resorted to trying to control my feelings on my own, which helped to a degree, but when I needed to vent I struggled to do so. I spoke to Verity, who suffers from PTSD, so she could discuss how she felt growing up:
Mental health is definitely becoming more and more spoken about in recent years but people who suffer from these disorders may still feel alone and that there isn’t enough support.
